Punk and Indie Gems -- February 28th, 2007

For this week's playlist I tried to sort it so that the order sounds as natural as possible, and also so that the quiet and loud songs were segregated. Other than that there's not much of a theme. More loud songs than quiet ones I guess.

Here it is:
-- Sonic Youth - Incinerate -- off of their new album which is amazing
-- The Flaming Lips - My Own Planet -- their old stuff back when they were punk-ish
-- Q and not U - Everybody Ruins
-- Mission of Burma - Fun World
-- Ampere - The Jailors Speak of Freedom -- arty screamo from amherst
-- Zs - Nobody Wants To Be Had Balk -- avant garde rock from NYC. They played here earlier this semester. This song is on their myspace.
-- Trail of Dead -- Another Morning Stoner
-- Arcade Fire -- Keep the Car Running -- new song
-- French Toast - Back Off Or Els -- related to Fugazi somehow, I forget how. Drummer's brother's band or something
-- Modest Mouse - Dirty Fingernails -- the first song I ever heard by them
-- Joy Division - Day of the Lords
-- Ride - Nowhere -- I grabbed the album after I heard 'Vapour Trail' from a playlist from the Perks of Being a Wallflower
-- Liz Isenberg - The Bad Ones -- singer/songwriter from somewhere around Amherst. This song is on her myspace.
-- Pavement - Spit On A Stranger
-- Radiohead - Palo Alto
